The way you see yourself and the way you present yourself is under scrutiny and will be a primary focus for the next six months. This will be the most poignant on July 1st and will be accompanied by a very low energy feeling. Force yourself to bypass your usual concentration on the low energy feeling and pay special attention to the feelings and images you receive relative to your relationships. If you don’t allow your pride to get in the way, you may come to some enlightening revelations about how you move through the world and why you act the way you do. You should examine your motivation in and for intimate relationships very carefully. The usual life pattern for you, Cancer, is to seek out someone who will take care of you with an inevitable shift moving you into taking care of those whom you designed and expected to take care of you. Don’t be insulted. This is the Cancer archetype. This is usually done through creating a sense of obligation in the people receiving your affections, thereby, guaranteeing your private and intimate support. The sign of Cancer is learning about nurturance. To receive it you must first give it…not the other way around. If you find yourself getting too smug, remind yourself that you are not a Cancer but are learning to be one by mastering her qualities. Logically, if you already were one, why would you be born as one?

One of the less obvious benefits of learning to handle yourself in this way is in becoming able to short-circuit the neediness that induces a blanketing security sapping your life energy in favor of freeing and redeeming the energy for its application into something more constructive and enjoyable. The dedication to the pursuit of security starves your ability to be creative. In this way, you become temporarily secure but eminently bored. You can’t have it both ways. Attempting to live vicariously through someone else, while maintaining a separate secure environment, can only work for a short period of time until the person you are trying live through begins to resent you. Look at your previous relationships and ask yourself, honestly, if I’m wrong. You be the judge as to what you need and what your conscience tells you that you need to do. This is a time for honestly and reflection. The low energy period should keep you grounded long enough to accomplish this. DO NOT slip into being the martyr. This will totally short circuit any growth that might be gained and it is way too easy an excuse to avoid “growing up” to become a real parent.

This will be a tough time for you, especially, if you feel that the world “owes you.” Feeling like an orphan does not entitle you to any special treatment. It’s just a more focused lesson in emotional maturation. Remember the line in the Moody Blues song saying that “all the love you gave was really meant for you.”
